We were born 'neath the sky's wide berth,
On this Earth, a magical home of worth,
With all we need and more, to thrive and be,
In abundance with nature, wild and free.
Society then whispered in our ear,
Telling us to forget and live in fear,
To obey the few and their unseen hand,
Guided not by wisdom, but by their command.
Yet born were we, as worthy souls,
Told only part of a society’s wholes,
Aligned with nature's timeless ways,
But directed off path in the world's maze.
Born equal, yet told worth is sourced in blood,
Inherited privilege, not understood,
Born with a connection to the divine,
But told salvation in one path we find.
Gifted with intelligence, senses sharp and true,
But commanded to learn what's right and what's due,
Born to love, to care, and to embrace,
But led to prioritize power, profit, and chase.
With instincts and beliefs held deep within,
Yet taught to measure by what we win,
Born noble-hearted without fear or shame,
But directed to fight in battles not ours to claim.
Born to stand out, not fit a mold,
Yet told difference is not to be extolled,
Amidst nature's splendor, a world to roam,
Told vacations, freedoms, must be earned and owned.
Born with much more than can be bought or sold,
Yet told everything must be controlled,
To be reborn through love and through our kin,
But told time with them, must come with discipline.
Born with forests, oceans, and skies so wide,
Yet told these treasures must be occupied,
Born free, yet told that freedom's just a lie,
A mere illusion dancing before our eye.
You were born immortal, but taught you'd die,
Born to live, though asked if there's time to try,
In a thriving society, is your part well played,
Or does your true self remain afraid?
